Joseph Banks’ voyage of discovery with a forgotten watercolourist

Sydney Parkinson’s Knightia Excelsa is among the works on display as part of Tate Britain’s current ‘Watercolour’ exhibition. The Scottish artist accompanied naturalist Joseph Banks on his 1768 voyage to the Pacific on board the Endeavour but died on the way home.
